집 앞의 페컴 라이 공원에 나가 걷다 보면 산책 나온 개들과 그 주인들을 볼 수 있다. 보통은 산책로가 정해져 있기 때문에, 개들이 사람보다 더 빨리 도착지에 도달하고는 한다.
이 이야기를 친구에게 전하면서 그 이유가 뭘지 묻자, 친구는 “개는 길을 헤매이는 걸 두려워하지 않고, 사람보다 많이 걷고 많이 탐색하기 때문에 도착지를 빨리 찾아낸다”고 답했다. 도착지에 더 빨리 도달하기 위해서는 특별한 능력보다는 더 헤매고자 하는 마음가짐이 중요한 것이다.

Whenever I walk Peckham Rye Park in front of my flat, I see the dogs and their owners. They often have their designated path to walk, and most of the time, the dogs reach the arrival point faster than the owners.
